Ropewise is the brainchild of industrial roper, Robert Dunshea. Working in the industry, Robert was continually frustrated by the lack of adequate, functional gear and accessories to assist him whilst on the job. All of the products available on the Ropewise website have been developed and trialled over the years by Robert and a group of likeminded ropers to solve specific problems which arose whilst working on-rope. The aim of Ropewise is to be continually looking at new ways to improve the efficiency of work whilst on-rope. This is achieved with the ergonomic design of gear for the professional roper.
The dumpbag was developed as an alternative to the traditional 'bucket' and stuff sack. Buckets are good for water - but that's about it. Stuff sacks hold your stuff well, but don't allow easy access to your gear. For most roping work the dumpbag is where it's at. The dumpbag has three external pouches and two slimline internal pockets so it holds all your stuff were you want it. Compartmentising your gear saves the time and hassle associated with constantly having to untangle lanyards. The stiffened opening ensures it stays open whilst you are putting things in or taking things out. It offers attachment loops to secure tools and equipment. It also comes with a contrasting coloured base so that you can immediately locate what you're after.
The technical toolbag came about from doing neon sign repairs and sky-sign installations. With lots of little fiddly bits and pieces, Rob needed a bag that could keep everything secure until it was needed and when needed it was immediately accessible. It is based on an electrician's tool belt, with multiple slots for hand tools and two large pockets for fixings. The toolbag comes complete with lanyard attachment points where you need them and a zipper section for total security of small items.
The gearbag is the professional roper's carry-all. Tired of carting gear from job to job in flimsy backpacks and luggage bags, Rob designed a gearbag that befits the roper. It is super strong (easily carries 30kg of gear). The limiting factor of this bag is you. Can you carry what you put in it!
Once the job is finished, you want to be out of there, not hanging around stuffing rope into a little hole in a bag. The Ropewise ropebag has many exciting features. It opens out flat, enabling the worker to easily access all of the rope. It can be used as a ground sheet, keeping the ropes clean and in one area. At the end of the job, ropes are simply placed on the open bag and the sides folded up. Transporting ropes up and down stairs, ladders, hatches and other inaccessible places is made much easier with the choice of three modes of carriage. There is a handle, a shoulder strap and also a tuck-away backpack option.
The helmet sunshade, gives workers relief from the sun whilst still meeting the safety requirements of wearing a helmet. This has been developed and tested under the conditions of the hot Australian sun! On every sunny job there are always a few workers trying to buy the sunshade off your head.
